Some home health services are covered by Medicaid, which is a state-funded program that provides nursing services and home health aides for qualified individuals.
To qualify for Medicaid home health services, the patient must be confined to the home due to illness or injury, and leaving the home must require a considerable and taxing effort, assistance of another and/or assistive devices. Services must be ordered by a physician, be reasonable and necessary to the treatment of the injury or illness and initially require a nurse, physical therapist or speech therapist.
To see if you qualify for Medicaid services, contact your local Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services office for eligibility information. Consult your telephone directory or visit http://www.dads.state.tx.us/ to locate an office near you.
